The Tattoo Grimoire
Hey everyone, welcome to Alchemy Tattoo Exchange’s Blog - The Tattoo Grimoire.
In our first blog post, we’d like to introduce ourselves, the artists, and tell you a little bit about our studio. In future blogs we’ll touch on subjects such as the consultation process, tattoo aftercare, proper sanitation and anti-septic techniques in the studio— as well as posting updates about events and sales we offer! So let’s get into it!
First of all, my name is Amanda Curmi. You can call me Bambi if you like! I am co-owner of Alchemy Tattoo Exchange alongside my fiancé Steven Panik. The studio was founded as a partnership between the two of us and first opened it’s doors on March 13th, 2023. You can read about that journey on the “Our Story” page and perhaps in a later blog we will sit down and go over the trials and tribulations involved, as well as the rewards that came along with it. For now, let’s talk about what to studio has to offer!
Alchemy Tattoo Exchange has a small crew of three artists: Steve Panik, Amanda Curmi, and Josh Brown. Each of us are well rounded but specialize in a different style, and often-times we are happy to refer you to the artist we think is best suited to a particular tattoo. We offer everything from black and grey realism to American traditional and cover everything in between such as fine-line, neotraditional, new school, and full color florals, animals, and landscapes. Aside from the art, we designed the studio to be a cozy, welcoming environment. Each booth holds space for two artists and their clients in a semi-private booth set up. Half walls allow privacy from the lobby and spectators while allowing your friend’s and family a space to view and offer support from just on the other side. We have a wide range of décor, music, and conversation to keep you entertained or distracted during the tattoo process as well as a cozy lounge-like lobby for consulting and meeting with clients. We have a streamlined booking process, digital release forms, and optional text-marketing to keep our client’s informed and remind them of their upcoming appointments. We also have on-site tablets for the less tech-savvy and portfolios available for viewing!
One thing we get asked a lot- “What’s the name mean?”
Well- We’re a bunch of nerds. If you’re familiar with the anime Full Metal Alchemist there won’t be much to explain, but if that’s not your thing allow me to explain. Alchemy is an early form of chemistry. Transmutation plays an important role in alchemy, such as turning mundane elements into gold. It is believed the secret to eternal life is tied to alchemy, in the form of the Philospher’s Stone, which happens to be the symbol we chose as the studio’s logo. A vast, empty circle with a triangle inside enclosing a square that contains a circle. This symbolizes the essential chemicals utilized in alchemical procedures. If this sounds like a bunch of mumbo-jumbo to you, that’s because it’s basically magic!
And that’s what we want to do! Make magic happen. We want to transform your ideas into works of art that you can proudly wear for the rest of your (eternal) life. That’s where the artists come in. Next week we’ll sit you down with a personal introduction from Steve, Josh, and myself so you can get to know the people working with you. In the meantime feel free to follow us on our socials! We’re on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok as Alchemy Tattoo Exchange!
If you’ve made it this far, we’d like to thank you for your interest. We hope to hear from you about your next tattoo idea or questions you may have about the process! If you mention this blog post, we’ll even offer $50 off your first booking! See ya next time!
